Open Source Search Engines

Posted in Mad Science at 8:49 am by Link The Planet Staff

Open source search engines allow participants to make changes and contribute to the improvement of the software. Good information systems also require consistently applied subject analysis and well structured data. Nutch is open source web-search software. It builds on Lucene Java, adding web-specifics, such as a crawler, a link-graph database, parsers for HTML and other document formats, etc.

Nutch could rewrite the rules of search development … especially with an impressive roster of Internet luminaries now lining up behind it.

Open Source may and will be the way of the future when it comes to web based searchs. Ask anyone about the hot applications that are out there and they will most likely tell you search.

$5 Free PPC

Posted in Mad Science at 8:01 am by Link The Planet Staff

We found a new search site that you can get $5 in free clicks just for signing up. The higher you bid, the higher your site appears in the search results. There you pay for your traffic but you only pay for the traffic you receive. It’s as simple as if a user does not click on your link, you don’t pay!

It’s all targeting so you directly connect with specific audiences through custom titles and descriptions.

Every part of this advertising is very cost effective by letting you set the amount you want to spend per visitor. Costs start as low as a penny per click. You manage your account with 24/7 account access. You can add and modify your settings or see reports on your traffic.

And there are no hidden costs or extra fees. You can’t ask for much more than that.

Somehow we can never catch up on all this email. We currently have 148 messages in our inbox. There has to be a better way to manage emails and get the best ones in first and the crap one out fast.

We are talking to our programmers and seeing if they can come up with a better way to manage the email systems we are currently using. It’s looking good for the future of our email.

We saw a great kids show on Nick the other day. It’s about a young boy that goes to school and is confronted with all kinds of normal stuff that kids go through in school. They show great ways for kids to work together in ways that they can all stay smart. What a great idea.
